Stupid Lawyers

I'm reading a transcript of a trial for family law and the way this attorney is asking questions is ridiculous.

And then he says "I'm going to ask you if he didn't say that your mother was mentally sleeping with you."

There are so many things wrong with the sentence. First, why say "i'm going to ask" instead of just asking.

Second, saying "if he didn't say" - where did this guy learn to speak English?

Then he goes on to ask if his mother "mentally castrated" his father"?

Finally, and most importantly, how does one mentally sleep with their mother?

Then another woman is testifying and she says that the plaintiff was "a mental midget, you know, she was a vegetable".

Another lawyer asks a psychiatrist if he has any experience treating patients who have made "highly-lethal" suicide attempts. As opposed to only partially lethal suicide attempts?
