Still studying estates/trusts and I came across this little legal gem. It's probably my favorite law so far. I'm totally going to set one up....
§15212 – Trust for care of animals
A trust for care of a designated domestic or pet animal may be performed for life of animal, whether or not there is a beneficiary that can seek enforcement and whether or not the terms of the trust contemplate a longer duration.
That's right. You can set up a trust for your cat or dog. You can totally screw over your relatives and leave all the money to the cat.
Going to post a list of funny quotes from my estates professor when I'm done. Too bad he doesn't teach anything else. I like his sense of humor.
